What is “Logos You Didn’t Ask For”?

“Logos You Didn’t Ask For” is a fun project I started in August 2024 where I create logos for people on Threads, even if they didn’t request one. The logos can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour to create.

This is useful for people who have recently been nominated. I started a Google Sheet here to track everyone. Email if you want to edit access.

How do you come up with logo ideas?

If I’m unfamiliar with the person’s profile, I review their threads and Instagram profiles to get a sense of their vibe and interests. This helps me generate ideas for a logo they might enjoy. If the profile is anonymous, it’s more challenging, and I have to consider why they chose to be anonymous and what that might say about their personality or brand.

What tools do you use to create the logos?

I use Canva almost exclusively for creating the logos. I try to do as much as possible within Canva, including choosing fonts and design elements.

Can other people participate in the project?

Absolutely! Anyone is welcome to create a logo for a person who has been nominated. Just be sure to tag the person in your post and say, “Here’s the logo that you didn’t ask for. Nominate a friend in a quote thread.” If you create a logo, please tag me in the comments so I can track who has been nominated.

  1. You can’t ask or beg for a logo for yourself. However, you can ask a friend to nominate you, assuming they have already received a logo.
  2. Only people who have received a logo can nominate others for a logo.
  3. Each nomination should be its own quote thread. Don’t nominate more than one person per post.

I’ve noticed you sometimes create logos for people who haven’t been nominated. What’s up with that?

As the project’s creator, I’ve given myself the privilege of being able to nominate new people without telling them. I basically let the person know they’ve been nominated by creating a logo for them.

Can I nominate more than one person?

Yes, but please don’t abuse your privileges as a logo holder. Remember to create a separate quote thread for each nomination.
